Clinic on Managing Open Journal System (OJS)

Open Journal System (OJS) is a web-based configuration and management of journal publication system. OJS contains all aspects of online journal publishing, from generating a website to managing operation task such as submission process, peer review, editing, publishing, archiving, and indexing journal. This system helps the operator in order to recording the submission, tracking paper changes, and review results.

According to Public Knowledge Project, OJS is featured functions for better journal management such as:

1. OJS is installed locally and locally controlled.
2. Editors configure requirements, sections, review process, etc.
3. Online submission and management of all content.
4. Subscription module with delayed open access options.
5. Comprehensive indexing of content part of global system.
6. Reading Tools for content, based on field and editors’ choice.
7. Email notification and commenting ability for readers.
8. Complete context-sensitive online Help support.

Pertaining the importance of OJS, Publication Management and Services (PMS) Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI) invited Irma Nuranthy Purnama, SPt., MSi. to become a mentor of Clinic on Managing OJS. She is a well-experienced journal editor who has been successfully supported Journal Peternakan (Journal of Bogor Agricultural University) to get indexed by Scopus.

The clinic on managing OJS has been successfully organized by PMS on 14-15 September 2017, at Wisma Unsri Palembang, and engaged 30 Operators and Editors of our internal journals. In this event, the participants were getting assisted one by one to install, config, and use OJS. Finally, we conclude, the goal of this event to spread the knowledge about OJS and ensure the OJS are fully used to support our internal journals are succeded.
